About Laputa: Castle in The Sky Movie

Laputa: Castle in the Sky is an animation film by Hayao Miyazaki released in the United States in 1986; the film takes its distant inspiration from a novel by Jonathan Swift, Gulliver’s Travels, where Laputa is a floating island peopled by superior creatures. The story of this castle in the sky proves one more time that people remain fascinated with the sky and what waits out there so little accessible to us if deprived of technologies. The plot follows the search for a hidden flying city rising behind clouds; to some characters this makes pure fantasy, while others seek to find the secret place. Laputa: Castle of the Sky has to reveal its secrets!

This castle in the sky surely belongs to a parallel Earth with an alternate history since none of the regions or place names that we come across in the film corresponds to real geographical data.

When he created the image of the castle in the sky, Miyazaki found inspiration in the architecture of a mining Welsh town, and this model served for the design of the buildings of Laputa. Although the film dates back to 1986, the DVD and video release was postponed until 2003. During that year, Laputa: Castle in the Sky became the second-best selling DVD distributed by Disney after Spirited Away.

There are several discrepancies between the original and the English dub, but the effect of Laputa: Castle in the Sky was not diminished by such differences. The music in the film sounds different and it was modified for the very purpose of rendering the anime more popular to the Western public who is normally used with very serious musical support. Moreover, all the alterations received the approval of the makers although some fans opposed some of the decisions. In Japan, Laputa: Castle in the Sky got numerous awards among which Best Film of the Year as well as Best Anime at the 9th Anime Grand Prix.

The files of the downloadable movies are in windows media format. They can be played on your computer, home theater pc etc. The DVD player is different.

2) Download from P2P networks:
File sharing P2P networks are designed as Peer-Peer to be a sharing facility between users. Examples are limewire and edonkey. Check the movie files you download for spyware, viruses and malacious content. Most small companies distribute their movies through P2P networks but the possibility of finding a movie currently shown in theatres is rare.

3) Become a member in paid download movie sites:
Be aware that you will have to pay membership dues just once at a paid movie download site in order to download movies. You are then allowed to download as many movies as you will. These paid movie download sites are legal. The quality of these downloaded files is better when compared to P2P networks. The files are spyware free and virus free too.

Most of these downloadable movies can be played on the computer or windows media format or Divx format. But if you intend to play them on a DVD player, third party software is required. With the advancement of technology, it has become possible and easy to buy downloadable movies and enjoy watching them at the comfort of your home at a low cost too.

Itunes is really your option as indicated above if you’re using a Mac. For Windows users, Guba has the best pricing, CinemaNow offers lower priced burn-to-DVD product and Movielink has a huge collection of movies.

Subsribing to Satellite Service In Your Condominium

For many years, Americans had only one option when it came to their pay television service – cable TV. That changed in the early 1990’s, when satellite TV became affordable and practical when the size of the satellite dish was greatly reduced. But today, those that live in condominiums are oftentimes restricted when it comes to this choice.

So what can the condo dweller do? Recent rulings by the FCC have made it a bit easier for these renters and homeowners to get away from high cable television prices. Let’s consider some of the frequently asked questions in this area.

I live in a condominium, and my HOA restricts satellite TV installation. What can I do?

This is a difficult situation to deal with. Homeowners associations have become extremely restrictive over the years when it comes to just about everything. The bottom line is that the FCC has ruled you have the right to satellite television, though the dish may have to be placed in an area considered “exclusive use.” This means no placement of the dish in common areas.

I rent a condominium unit. Can I get satellite television service?

his oftentimes depends on the owner of the unit. Satellite TV companies generally require landlord permission, so check directly with Dish Network or DIRECTV before scheduling installation. Twenty four month contracts are also the general requirement for new satellite TV customers, so be sure you can fulfill your end of the bargain.

I have heard about new shared satellite systems. How do these work?

Many high rise apartments and condominiums have begun to allow satellite TV companies access to their buildings. These large scale systems give the complete building access to a satellite provider, and give you a choice when comparing satellite TV vs. cable. Check with your building manager to see if they have installed a system like this.

21st century technology is beneficial to renters and homeowners alike. With expanded availability to satellite services, cable companies will have to hold the line on prices in order to remain competitive. More importantly, fully evaluate the options available in obtaining satellite television at your condo .
